Today’s Leadership Wednesday event has three options for students. Students are expected to show up to their connect block, Block 1, and sign up for one of the three Leadership activities:

1. Tree Planting at Aldergrove Regional Park
2. Christmas Gift Crafting at Vanguard Secondary
3. Theory of Giving, an academic activity which will help students gain a better understanding of the act of giving and kindness.

Students attending Tree Planting will require a permission form. Students that sign up for activity 2 or 3 only require showing up to school, as all other activity take place at Vanguard Secondary for the day.

One of this weeks Leadership activities is a field trip planned to Aldergrove Regional Park on Wed. November 28^th, 2018.

On this field trip we will be working with staff from Metro Vancouver Regional Parks on invasive species removal and tree planting at Aldergrove Regional Park while tying nature into cross-curricular activities. Students will also be asked to make career connections by observing and discussing different types of jobs happening around and supporting the Park.

We will be travelling to our destination by school bus.

We will depart from the school on November 28^th, at 10:45am and head over to Aldergrove Regional Park located at 501 Lefeuvre Road, Abbotsford and return to Vanguard Secondary School on Nov 28th at 1:45pm.

Students will be provided with a Pizza lunch at the end, after positively helping at the Park.

It is important that your child dress in appropriate attire and footwear for this trip as the park could have muddy wet conditions based on the weather. Please make sure your child has boots or old shoes and a rain jacket in case it is a wet day and warm clothing; sweater, hat, mitts and/or a toque in case of cold weather.  

We require your permission for your child to participate in this activity.  Please complete the Field Trip – Parent Permission Form (on reverse side) and return it to the school by Tuesday, Nov 27^th 2018.
